Over Spring Break we traveled to Italy which was an incredibly amazing trip!! So while most people were sitting beachside, we were exploring ancient cities and eating pasta. I wouldn’t have changed it for anything but it had us longing for a beach trip once Summer break rolled around. We were so excited when it was time for our family vacation to Lake Oconee in GA last week.
When packing for any vacation, there’s always the same basics I follow. Then I add in pieces to fit the exact location we are visiting. Here’s what to pack for a lake vacation:
FOR PLAY:
Whether it’s to walk the beach, heading for coffee or breakfast, to go on a bike ride or to just venture out and explore, I always make sure I have very casual/athletic clothes packed. There have been some beach vacations where I’ve worn leggings almost the entire week!!! But aren’t those vacations where you really get to relax and not have to get dressed up or do full hair and makeup the best?!

FOR NIGHT:
Summer dresses are the easiest to pack for dinners out. Most can be dressed up with a simple wedge or heel and a great pair of statement earrings!! Be sure to know if your resort has a dress code, but now a days most places aren’t strict. A lot of time this is the first time I’m getting ready and dressed for the day. We’ll hit the pool/beach, ride bikes, then shower before dinner. I always pack an extra dress or two just in case. And don’t forget special bras, slips, etc that you’ll need for your dresses.
FOR DAY:
A lot of times, these looks are my travel outfits. Of course a trip to the lake means you’ll be spending a lot of time by the water, so I pack a few swimsuits and coverups. If you need a break from the lake or pool, you’ll want a few casual outfits. For a casual dinner, these outfits will work too.
FOR THE WATER:
I always pack way more swimsuits than I really need. But I guess that goes along with my over-packing problem!!! Of course my favorite style of suit is a bandeau top because no tan lines up around my neck!!! But I’ve also been really loving the one-pieces this Summer. They have come a long way in the stylish department and can also be really flattering. The one I’m wearing below is my favorite this Summer! Don’t the colors remind you of neapolitan ice cream?! Another trend I’m totally into this Summer is the kimono cover-up. They look so pretty blowing in the breeze and they dry incredibly fast.
